Safe landings are crucial when it comes to flying planes.
That’s why retractable gear aircraft pilots so widely use the aviation mnemonic GUMPS. It stands for:
G – Gas
U – Undercarriage
M – Mixture
P – Propeller
S – Seat belts and Switches
GUMPS is a memory device that helps pilots to remember all the integral steps in the landing process and to prevent distraction when approaching the runway.
When it comes to your work, what’s your equivalent to a safe landing? What process is critical for you to carry out successfully in order to complete your mission?
Have you identified the integral steps in that mission-critical process?
If you don’t already have one, would it be helpful to come up with a mnemonic or some other learning technique to aid those responsible for successfully completing this mission-critical process?
