You’re reading this.
That means you’re not reading, watching, or interacting with something or someone else.
There’s a trade-off to everything we do, an opportunity cost.
Our attention is a limited and precious resource. When you’re asking for someone’s attention or trying to interrupt their day-to-day—whether via a team meeting, a sales email, an ad, a pitch, a webinar, or what have you—consider the opportunity cost they are making. Your goal should be to make their trade-off worthwhile. Do the work to ensure they are gaining more than they are giving up by interacting with you.
If you want someone’s attention, earn their trust by providing them with meaningful value.
