I know my pace varies with the terrain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">I slow down so I can safely navigate more technical and rough terrain. I also slow down on steep climbs too\u2014you\u2019ll most likely find me power hiking these\u2014so I can conserve energy to run at a faster pace in other sections of the trail, like the flats and the most familiar sections where my feet just know where to go.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">If you were to use my current pace at a single point on the trail to gauge when I might finish my route, you\u2019re likely to be off. Maybe even by quite a lot in either direction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">If you want to know how fast I\u2019m going on my run, you might be best to consider average pace rather than current pace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">How fast are you going?
