I don\u2019t like to be wrong and I would suspect you don\u2019t like to be wrong either.<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, please correct me if I\u2019m wrong in making this assumption.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are certainly occasions when we hope we\u2019re wrong, but often realizing when we\u2019re wrong about something can feel: <\/span><\/p>\n

  • frustrating<\/span><\/li>\n
  • scary<\/span><\/li>\n
  • nerve-wracking<\/span><\/li>\n
  • stressful<\/span><\/li>\n
  • humiliating<\/span><\/li>\n
  • painful<\/span><\/li>\n
  • unsettling<\/span><\/li>\n
  • exhausting<\/span><\/li>\n
  • alienating<\/span><\/li>\n
  • confusing<\/span><\/li>\n
  • defeating<\/span><\/li>\n
  • heartbreaking<\/span><\/li>\n
  • and many other uncomfortable emotions<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    While being wrong can feel heavy, it\u2019s not something to be avoided. As Seth Godin said, \u201cThe secret to being wrong isn\u2019t to avoid being wrong! The secret is being willing to be wrong. The secret is realizing that wrong isn\u2019t fatal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

    It\u2019s a little bit easier to be willing to be wrong when we recognize that being wrong is not a referendum on our expertise, experience, character, worthiness, or the value of our contribution; being wrong is merely part of the process and price of learning, growth, change, and innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n
