When Standing Still Is Moving Forward

When Standing Still Is Moving Forward - red figure standing still in middle of white figures moving forward

In our world of hustle and bustle and go, go, go it’s easy to feel that if we’re not moving forward, we’re falling behind.

This feeling makes it easy to fall into the trap of forward motion for the sake of forward motion, of being stuck on the hamster wheel of busy, of needing to get more things done instead of the right things done.

While intentional, productive, and effective forward motion in the direction of your North Star requires taking actionable steps, those steps don’t always look like literal movement in a forward direction.

Sometimes, forward motion looks like being at a standstill.

Sometimes, intentional, productive, and effective forward motion involves standing still so you can map the territory and develop a better understanding of the most strategic direction in which you need to go to move closer to your North Star.
